    I had so much fun today with Stephanie Sanders doing our webinar on IP KPIs. The attendees had excellent questions and I thought it lead to some great discussions. Thank you to everybody that attended!I was deep in IP operations for a little less than 5 years before broadening my skills to encompass IP+ during my time at Mural. I've learned so much about contracting and sales and trade compliance and privacy and ... I love the + part of what I do, and am delighted to keep moving up that steep learning curve in legal operations!I would encourage anybody that wants to know more about how to operationalize their IP strategy to reach out to Stephanie Sanders directly. She's AH-MAZING. If you regularly think, "Surely there's a better way to do this," she can help you. If you're under pressure to justify your IP outside counsel spend, she can help parse through your data and identify where you might have opportunity for cost savings. If you've seen some of the cool tech out there and you're thinking about bringing it onboard, but worried that the spend is too high to justify the benefits, I'd suggest asking for her expert opinion. Finally, if you're just getting your feet wet in IP and it's a lot (it really is, you're not wrong), make a connection on a personal level and you won't be disappointed.At the end of the day, your IP should be a valuable business asset, regardless of the type you select and how you measure its business impact. If you're not sure how to maximize value or operationalize getting there from here, you know who to call/email/message. Until tomorrow!#ip #legalops #strategy

    If your legal team is looking to improve client relations, technology matters. According toThomson Reuters’ Consumer and Business Client Experience surveys, 28 percent of consumer clients and 26 percent of business clients are unsatisfied with their lawyers’ use of technology. Simply adopting legal tech can change these metrics if your team has a client satisfaction goal to meet. The surveys also show that consumer clients have unanimous satisfaction using online portals, 96 percent satisfaction with online document review/ mark-up and 97 percent satisfaction with e-signature for consumers.     These are my top take-aways from the InView Community webinar “The current state of legal tech and its impact on in-house legal teams and the wider business”🗣 Risk appetite should be an ongoing conversation between legal and the C-suite to inform how much accelerator and brake legal needs to be applying. Questions such as what is the business looking to achieve? What is the risk profile the business is willing to accept to pursue its goals? and What role can legal play in enabling those business outcomes?💡 A priority for teams looking to attract and retain staff should be to provide them with not only interesting and challenging work, but also a progressive environment which allows them to do their jobs well.🚀 When building a business case for investment in the legal function, include persuasive narrative focusing on growth, such as how the investment will decrease contract turnaround time by X days and lead to accelerated revenue of X% per month.🧠 Improving the team’s capability is a key productivity action. Invest not only developing the team’s technical legal knowledge and skills, but also broader skills of commercial acumen, project management, persuasion, agility, innovation and developing a customer experience mindset.3️⃣ If you want to free up time and focus on high-value work, you need a legal strategy that is comprised of your organizational capability (people, skills competencies), your organizational design (optimal team structure, staff, AI, technology) and your management systems (policies, processes).🎯 Legal can no longer expect the value of its work to speak for itself, they need data and metrics that measure and report on performance.👩⚖️ The attributes that make lawyers so valuable; ethics, accountability and professionalism, means that when faced with problems, they will always try to fix them.
