Michael Ewing, CFSP and CCSP

Licensed Funeral Director/Owner

Michael is a Licensed Funeral Director, Licensed Preneed Insurance Agent, and an InSight Certified Celebrant. He also assists families with cemetery monuments.

Michael grew up around the funeral homes, and has worked for the family business on and off his entire life, whether it was mowing, scooping snow, painting, or helping at services. He was born and raised in Britt, where he graduated from West Hanco*ck High School in 1998. He lived in Mason City for about a decade, where he attended North Iowa Area Community College and Buena Vista. In 2008, when he resumed his funeral service education at Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny, he began helping at the funeral homes on a more regular basis. He joined the family business full-time in 2009, when he made his home in Clarion.

Michael loves serving the families the funeral homes are privileged to care for, in whatever capacity he can.

Abby Goodenow, CFSP

Licensed Funeral Director/Owner

Abby joined the staff at Ewing Funeral Home in 2014. She is from Lake View and graduated from East Sac County High School in 2009. She spent two years at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, graduating with an Associate in Arts degree before obtaining her Mortuary Science Degree from Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny. Abby is also a Licensed Preneed Insurance Agent and an InSight Certified Celebrant.

Abby feels it’s an honor to help and serve families in their time of need.

Natalie Erickson

Licensed Funeral Director

Natalie grew up in Coulter and graduated from CAL High School with the class of 2012. She enrolled in the Des Moines Area Community College Mortuary Science Program and graduated in October of 2015. She joined the Ewing Funeral Home staff as a licensed funeral director in January of 2017.

Natalie feels honored to help families in their time of need and have an opportunity to serve families in North Central Iowa.

Barbara Eekhoff

Monument Sales/Office Manager

Barb began working for Ewing Funeral Home in 1998, and is currently the office manager, assists at services, and also assists families with cemetery monuments. She is from Gilmore City and earned her Medical Assistant Degree from Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge.

Barb enjoys interacting with people and helping them design their cemetery memorials. She loves what she does because of the wonderful people the funeral homes have the honor to serve.

Elizabeth Murphy

Office Manager

Elizabeth joined the Ewing Funeral Home staff in 2022. She grew up in Webster City and graduated from Webster City High School. She lives in Clarion with her husband Bob and their children. Elizabeth has a background in many areas of service including public communications.

Elizabeth is honored to help families in their time of need.

Jamie Kruger

Aftercare Support Coordinator

Jamie joined the staff in 2021 to serve families with aftercare needs. She grew up in Conrad, Iowa. After high school she played softball at the University of Northern Iowa and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Leisure, Youth and Human Services. She went on to obtain her Masters in Professional School Counseling. She has served the Emmetsburg Community School District and the West Hanco*ck Community School District as a school counselor. She lives outside of Britt with her husband Dan and two children Owen and Kloey.

Jamie feels honored to have the opportunity to help support families in their time of need and serve her community in this role.

Nicole Woodley, Chaplain

Aftercare Support Coordinator

Pastor Nicole Woodley is a native Iowan, who grew up in Newton. She graduated from Simpson College, then went to Duke Divinity School in North Carolina with her husband Grant, where both graduated, then attended Luther Seminary to finish off their pastoral training. Nicole and Grant are both rostered ministers in the ELCA and serve as bivocational fourth generation farmers and co-pastors at First Lutheran Church in Clarion, Iowa, where Grant grew up. They have five children and love spending time outside together on the farm. Nicole’s focus in seminary was pastoral care. She served as a chaplain intern and chaplain resident at two different hospitals. As a cancer survivor herself, Nicole has a passion for caring for families experiencing health crises, hospice care and the death of a loved one.

She feels honored to be a part of the Ewing funeral home staff family, and looks forward to walking with families during their time of need.

Lauren Rice

Student, Support Staff

Lauren grew up in Northwood and graduated from Forest City High School. She lives in Britt with her husband Jonathon and their two children, Abby and Kailyn. She is currenting attending Des Moines Area Community College.

Kim Ott

Support Staff

Kim has been with Ewing Funeral Home since 2003, where she helps in working visitation and funeral services. She was born and raised in Clarion, and she enjoys working with people helping families in the area during a tough time in their life.

Dona Cleveland

Support Staff

Dona has been with the Funeral Home in Belmond for over a decade working visitations & funerals. She was a Registered Nurse at the Belmond Hospital for many years. She loves being able to be with families in their time of sorrow and sadness.

Roger Ewing

Licensed Funeral Director, Retired

Roger grew up in Duncombe and graduated from Webster City High School. He is a veteran of the United States Army, serving our country in Vietnam. He attended both Iowa Central Community College and Milwaukee Institute of Mortuary Science, where he obtained his mortuary degree. He worked for Powers Funeral Homes in Pocahontas and Rolfe before he and his wife, Rickee, relocated to Britt. He is a member of Knights of Columbus and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He has had the honor to have served families in Hanco*ck and Wright Counties as a funeral director for over 40 years. In 2021, Roger earned the honor of being a licensed funeral director for 50 years.

Betty Anderson

Support Staff, Retired

Betty worked for Ewing Funeral Home beginning in 1984, where she worked visitation services, cleaned, and did laminating. She was born on a farm seven miles from Britt and has lived in Britt her entire life. She attended Liberty No. 4, a one-room schoolhouse. Betty loved working with people and found it such a joy to see different people at each visitation. She also helped care for Michael when he was young and thinks of the Ewing family as her own. Betty retired from the funeral home in 2018 at the age of 94.
